Online Accreditation for the 17th AU Summit is Available
The Directorate of Information and Communication of the African Union wishes to inform all media representatives that, an online accreditation process for journalists wishing to cover the 17th Summit of the African Union is now available at the following link: www.au.int/en/summit/17thSummit/accreditation
Journalists are kindly requested to submit their applications for accreditation online before 20 June 2011.
Journalists should also note that necessary arrangements have been made to enable them carry out their duty in a suitable working environment. However, only journalists who have been accredited will be allowed to cover the event and benefit from the facilities put in place to assist them.
Journalists are also reminded that there will be a dual accreditation process for the summit. The African Union will issue the conference badges, while the Ethiopian authorities will issue the security badge. Both badges are required to access the venue of the Summit and the meeting rooms in order to cover the official opening and closing sessions.

The 17th Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit will be held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, from 23 June to 1st July 2011 under the theme: "Accelerating Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development". The meetings will be scheduled as follows:
23 to 24 June: 22nd Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC);
26 to 28 June 2011: 19th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council;
30 June - 1 July 2011: 17th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union.
Journalists are invited to cover the open sessions of the events.
