H.E. Amb. Selma Malika Haddadi, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission convened a consultation meeting yesterday with Regional Deans and the Overall Dean as well as the Ambassador of Zambia in his capacity as Vice-Chair of the Sub-Committee on General Supervision.

The consultation is part of the ongoing preparatory process on the AU Budget for 2027 and scale of assessment for 2027-2029 and to strengthen coordination with Member States to ensure a collective voice in the upcoming Policy Organs deliberations.

During the meeting , the discussion focused on financial and human resource , governance and oversight on matters affecting the Union. The Deputy Chairperson underscored the critical importance of ensuring predictable and sustainable financing as well as prudent financial management in line with the AU Financial Rules, Assembly and Executive council decisions on financing of the Union and the broader agenda of improving efficiency.

Participants exchanged views on key issues regarding the proposed budget for 2027 and its sources of funding. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the need for continued engagement, close coordination, and collective ownership among Member States and the AUC to ensure successful outcome of the upcoming policy organs meetings.
