The AU needs to realign its institutions in order to deliver against the continental priorities. This requires that:

  • An professional audit is conducted on the AU’s bureaucratic bottlenecks and inefficiencies that impede service delivery
  • The size and capabilities of Commission’s structures are re-evaluated to ensure that they have the right size and capabilities to deliver on the agreed priorities;
  • A lean and performance-oriented senior leadership team is established at the AU Commission
  • A review and update of the mandate and structure of key organs and institutions is undertaken
  • Improve service delivery
