African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights President and Vice President re-elected for another term

Arusha, 28 August, 2018: The President and the Vice President of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR), Hon Justice Sylvain Oré from Côte d’Ivoire and Hon Justice Ben Kioko from Kenya respectively, have been re-elected for the second and final term of two years to lead the Bureau.

The closed-door elections were held yesterday at the start of the 50th Ordinary Session at the seat of the Court in Arusha, Tanzania.

Arusha, Tanzania, 24 August, 2017: The Department of Political Affairs of the African Union Commission (AUC) convened a meeting of the Human Rights and Transitional Justice Cluster of the African Governance Architecture from the 24 – 26 August 2017 in Arusha, Tanzania. The purpose of the meeting was to provide inputs to the draft plan with the aim of finalising the draft of 10 Years Action Plan on the Human and Peoples Rights Decade in Africa before submitting it to wider stakeholder consultations.

Arusha, Tanzania, 23 November 2016: The High Level Dialogue (HLD) was part of the celebrations of 2016 as the Year of Human Rights in Africa with Particular Focus on the Rights of Women.  The event was held in Arusha, Tanzania, jointly by the AU Organs with a human rights mandate. The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania was the guest of honour during the Opening Ceremony.
